What is the difference between regular payroll and construction payroll?

Construction payroll considers industry-specific peculiarities of the construction sector – such as bonuses, holiday pay, seasonal short-time work allowance, and reporting obligations to social security funds like SOKA-BAU or Malerkasse. It is considerably more complex and requires specialised expertise as well as up-to-date knowledge of collective agreements.

The construction industry has specific laws, reporting obligations, and collective agreement regulations. Each activity, construction site, and type of employment can have its own requirements – therefore, specialist knowledge is crucial.

In the construction industry, depending on the trade, there are different social funds that must be included in the payroll:

  • SOKA-BAU: For companies in the main construction industry, responsible for holiday and wage compensation (ULAK) and supplementary pensions (ZVK).

  • SOKA-Dach: Social Fund of the German Roofing Trade – administers holiday and welfare benefits.

  • Paint box: Responsible for the painting and decorating trade, including holiday fund and central supply fund.

  • SOKA-Gerüstbau: Independent social security fund for scaffolders – manages contributions, holiday entitlements, and supplementary pensions.

  • GaLaBau Fund (via BGL): For garden and landscaping businesses, with specific collective agreement regulations on holidays, working hours, and pensions.

SOKA-BAU is responsible for the entire main construction industry and combines the holiday and wage compensation fund (ULAK) with the supplementary pension fund (ZVK). Every employer in the construction industry is obliged to register and pay contributions. We handle the complete processing of SOKA-BAU reports and ensure compliance with all deadlines and collective bargaining agreements.

For painters and varnishes, the regulations of the Malerkasse, consisting of a holiday fund and a central welfare fund, apply. We create the payroll based on the applicable collective agreements, take care of reporting to the fund, and handle holiday pay, pension contributions, and special payments.

In gardening and landscaping, specific collective agreements apply via the Federal Association for Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Facilities Construction (BGL). We are familiar with the industry-specific regulations concerning holiday entitlement, supplements, and working hours, and we ensure the correct payroll for all employees.

SOKA-Gerüstbau is an independent social fund for the scaffolding trade. It manages holiday pay, supplementary pension contributions, and other statutory benefits. Our experts handle all notifications and settlements – quickly, securely, and without errors.
Roofers register their employees with SOKA-Dach. This body regulates holiday entitlements, supplementary pensions, and contribution records. We ensure that all requirements of the collective bargaining parties are implemented correctly and handle timely notification.
